Kelsey and Garrett

I have known Kelsey since we were in Kindergarten, and we have been best friends ever since. So when she told me about Garrett, I could tell that she was definitely interested in a forever with this guy. Garrett contacted me in June of 2018 and asked me if I would help him out with a proposal for Kelsey. He mentioned wanting to do some type of photoshoot to trick her into getting dressed up and so I would be there to take pictures. Well, we brainstormed and brainstormed, and probably changed our idea about 10 times. We finally came up with an idea that would involve another one of our friends, Emily. We decided to tell her that I was planning on doing a blog post on friendship and how we have maintained our friendship over the years. Little did she know what we had up our sleeves.

We planned for Morning Gory Farms and the 3 of us even went to visit one evening to plan everything out. The day that we drove to Morning Glory for the “Shoot” Kelsey was constantly looking out the window (We were heading to Monroe, where she attended college, and was starting to get suspicious). We later found out that she was thinking that Garrett would propose at her school. Her suspicions slowly faded away as we went more and more into the country, and when we arrived at the venue there was nobody around. Garrett and my husband/second shooter, were hiding on the other side of the property where we would eventually walk to. We took a few pictures at the front of the property and walked back to where they hold their wedding ceremonies, and Kelsey began to look around some more, thinking that this would be a pretty wedding venue (hmm.. ;) ).

I told Kelsey that we would take a few pictures of her by herself in front of the lake, and I positioned her perfectly where Garrett could come out of hiding behind her, and she would never assume a thing. We got to watch the whole thing unfold, as my childhood best friend got engaged- such a sweet moment!

Fast forward a few months to October, and we planned their engagement session at Lake Lure. We really wanted to get some beautiful shots of Kelsey and Garrett in a canoe on Lake Lure, and we had to go through a few obstacles, but eventually we made it happen. It was such a beautiful fall morning and time just flew by! It’s so much fun taking pictures for one of your best friends.
